SWVMHI is the primary state psychiatric hospital for consumers that receive mental health services from the following Community Services Boards located in Health Planning District III:

Dickenson County CSB -- serving the County of Dickenson
Highlands CSB -- serving the City of Bristol, VA and Washington County
Mount Rogers CSB -- serving the City of Galax and the Counties of Smyth, Wythe, Bland, Carrol and Grayson
New River Valley Community Services -- serving the City of Radford and the Counties of Giles, Montgomery, Pulaski and Floyd
Planning District 1 -- serving the City of Norton and the Counties of Lee, Scott and Wise
Extended Rehabilitation Unit
