Effective 7-1-1996, the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services requires a criminal history conviction background check on all applicants selected for employment, including fingerprinting.  Additionally, applicants selected for employment in a safety-sensitive position must complete a urine drug screen prior to beginning employment.
